Bienestar Hires New Youth Program Coordinator

Amanda Schuft has joined the Bienestar team as our new Youth

Coordinator.  Before joining Bienestar, Amanda worked in elementary and

middle school education here in the Portland area.  Most recently she worked

in Honduras as a fourth grade teacher in a bilingual school. 

 

Amanda completed her bachelor’s degree at Lewis and Clark College in

Portland in 2007.  During her time there she spent a semester living in the

Dominican Republic as part of a language intensive study abroad program

involving a service internship.  Amanda enjoys to travel and experience new

places, however, loves her home state of Oregon.

Bienestar Youth Program Coordinator

 

        She will be coordinating the Listos Para Vida/Ready for Life Youth

Initiative for Bienestar residents.  The program, funded by grants from The

Collins Foundation and the Ted and Doris Nelson Fund at Oregon Community

Foundation, includes three Homework Clubs, AKA Science Clubs, Financial

Fitness for Life, Summer Reading Safari, Summer Lunch & Fun, Explorador

Nature Camp, and special events.  More information about these programs is

Gracie Garcia, Program Services Manager.  “She has already become a

valuable member of our resident services team and very popular with the

children at our properties.”
